Fatal Dirt Bike Accident

On Friday, March 15, 2019 at 4:00 p.m., Bensalem Police responded to the intersection Tyler Ave and Virginia Ave for the report of an accident involving a dirt bike.  A preliminary investigation has determined that a dirt bike, not street legal, was traveling at a high rate of speed, east on Virginia Ave with two occupants.  A GMC Acadia was traveling south on Tyler Ave with the right of way.  The dirt bike disregarded the posted stop sign and crashed into the GMC Acadia.  Both occupants were thrown from the dirt bike upon impact.  Both occupants were not wearing a helmet and were both transported to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital for treatment. 

The 16 year old driver of the dirt bike is listed in extremely critical condition.  His information is not being released.  The 18 year old passenger was identified as Raymond Horner, from Bensalem, and he was pronounced dead at the hospital.  Horner was a student at Bensalem High School.

The driver of the GMC cooperated at the scene and was also treated for minor injuries.
